Several ways to clean your jacket without washing at home

How to wash problem areas?

The collar, cuffs, lapels, armpits and jacket pockets most often suffer from constant wear. Dry cleaning must begin with the treatment of these areas.

Collar

To remove dirt and grease, you can use any alcohol-containing composition:

  1. With a cotton pad or a napkin dipped in alcohol, you need to carefully treat the damaged area.
  2. Dry with a warm iron through a thin cloth or gauze.

Do not allow the fabric to get too wet or overheat the iron. This deforms the collar.

Cuffs, elbows, lapels

  • aqueous solution of ammonia (1: 1);
  • vinegar (9%);
  • medical alcohol and ammonia (5 ml per 1 tbsp. water).

With a sponge or cotton pad dipped in the chosen solution, you need to wipe the damaged areas well until the shine is removed. Wash off the remains with clean water, dry well with an iron.

How to remove the smell of sweat?

To cope with an unpleasant smell will help:

  1. A solution of salt, vodka and water (1: 1: 5): with a napkin, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the armpit areas from the inside. Then, be sure to rinse with clean water to eliminate salt stains.
  2. Hydrogen peroxide: Suitable for light-colored items. Eliminates not only unpleasant odor, but also yellow traces of sweat. A little bit of the product should be applied to the damaged area, left for 15–20 minutes, and blotted first with a damp and then with a dry cloth.
  3. "Aspirin": Moisten the area to be cleaned slightly with warm water, sprinkle with crushed tablets. Gently rub the powder with a sponge, rinse.
  4. Alcohol solution (medical alcohol + ammonia (1: 1), technical + medical alcohol (1: 1), undiluted vodka): thoroughly treat the armpit area with any selected composition, blot with paper towels, dry.

To clean the lining, you can use the same tools and techniques as for processing a jacket:

The choice of means and methods for cleaning a jacket depends on the material from which the item is made.

Leather

Genuine or imitation leather jackets must not be washed or steam treated. To refresh the material, you must:

  2. Remove stains with a mixture of ammonia, glycerin, liquid soap and water in equal amounts.
  3. Lubricate rough areas with baby cream.
  4. Treat abrasions with a special paint for leather.

Vaseline, glycerin or castor oil will help to restore the shine of the tarnished material.

You need to clean the woolen jacket in a horizontal position, spreading it out on a flat surface. Moisture, steam or temperature can cause the material to shrink or stretch.
